Real

"You Were Real. That's What Made You So Good To Watch." ~Christof (The Truman Show)

Every week I wait until the last minute to write something. Partially because that's just my nature when writing but also because I'm just not sure what's going to be different from day to day or even hour to hour. Things are changing so fast and as a result of that, reality is becoming more skewed. No one knows who's telling the truth or who's telling a lie. It seems that more times than not we're seeing a version of people that isn't real. But...that's not what we need. Because the best version of every person is the one where they are themselves.

This is one of my favorite quotes from one of my absolute most favorite movies of all time. And I love this quote so much because not only is it what we need to hear now but it's what we always needed to hear. See in this movie everyone loves watching Truman simply living his life. He doesn't know that his life is a TV show but he just goes about living. Why? Because he was REAL. No keyboards to hide behind, no filters, no redos...just REAL. The creator of this TV show Truman lived and starred in discovered that to captivate his audience and to pull them out of what they were going through that had to present something people needed. And what people needed was Truman being Truman. A person living his own life the best way he knew how.

Everyone is constantly searching for what's going to "fix" everything and heal the world. What if YOU have something that could change the world? What if the most true version of you is the answer to some of the problems? Would you hide it behind a filter or try to find that thing or that quality in someone else? Or would you live like Truman? Like no one is watching even though everyone is. 1 Peter 2:9 says- ...for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. We have to start looking at ourselves and our lives the way God looks at us. As a chosen people and as God's very own. He called you OUT of the darkness and into His light. And I believe that is so WE can be the lights in this dark world.

I've always said that people need to be themselves because something they have may be something someone else is looking for and something someone else needs. Everyone was created with a purpose and that purpose may seem minor to you but may be the turning point for someone else. And the time we're living in gives even more reason to live out YOUR purpose. Not try to be someone else or something your not. There's already too many people that put on a front to appear different than they are. Don't be one of those people. Be a mold breaker. Be a world changer. BE YOU. BE REAL.

James 4:14 says- How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. Do you really want to spend your life NOT living for your purpose? Or do you want to live a life that changes other lives? You have a purpose and there is a plan. And that purpose, whether you realize it or not, is a purpose that can change lives. Your experiences and your hardships can be your testimony. And that testimony could change someones life. And then their testimony could change another, and another, and another. But you won't find that purpose trying to be something you're not. You'll find it in YOU....the REAL you. It's what you need and it's undoubtedly what this world needs.
